My Marmie and me

This was done with a collection I loved but never bought until I found it at a garage sale. :) This page is a prime example of taking a mistake and turning it into a creative opportunity. My die cutting machine didn't cut the background properly. I realized I didn't really need it too. I flipped it over so the cuts that didn't go all the way through didn't show. And added washi tape so you didn't see where it had  ended. I had the package from the embellishments and decided to recycle it and put it on the page as an after thought.

Inspired by the old

I was handed some scraps by my dear friend from a kit she had made.It had the words smiles admitted repeated. I thought hmmm what to do? Well, I really need to use my stash of things I have bought but never used.
Then, I challenged myself to use  it in an untraditional way. So I found an old birthday line from authentique and it all just fell in place.  Who needs tooth fairy embellishments when you have such great paper and friends that share scraps.:).  Here is a picture of the results.

Beeeaaauutifuuuuullllll!!!

As much as I love scrapbooking every little thing my kids do. I wanted to scrap about someone else. I saw the picture of my bestie's girl (my adopted niece) and had to scrap it.

I had the scraps of the hexagon print lying around for months. I had a layout in mind but it never came into being. As I was cleaning my scraps the hexagon made me think of honeycomb. Suddenly, it all clicked in my mind. I needed yellow paper and found Fancy Pants Parkbench a perfect fit.  I hardly ever use my Cricut but found the perfect bee on the Give a Hoot cartridge.  I embossed the bee and cut a few more accents with my Cricut.  Then raided my cardstock from We R Memory Keepers, added a few more scraps, Thickers, journaling and ta da the page is done. :)

So glad to add my special girl to my scrapbook.

Catch up time! Or should I say tea time!!

I have been slacking on my blog for months.I kept thinking about it but life got in the way. Now that my kids are in school,I can quit hanging my head in shame and share what I have been up too.  :)

I have loved drinking tea since I was young. My parents always told me it was good for you. My love for tea was encouraged when I lived in South Africa. They had tea time everyday.  :) It was only fitting that my husband Michael grew up in Sri Lanka. Home to most of the worlds tea plantations.  In 2013 Michael found a new love for Teavana tea that carries some of the tea he was used to.
On a cold day in March, Michael took us to Teavana.  They were giving out free cups of tea and the kids and I each had one. Michael caught us on candid camera enjoying our tea. I couldn't resist putting it on a page.

I dug into my stash for the background and found some old My Minds Eye. I love to use things that normally get recycled so I used the bag from the Teavana store. I just cut the handles off. The darling teacup paper and embellishments are from the Soho Garden line from American Crafts.   My letters are from October Afternoon and AC Thickers.  The ribbon is from the dollar bin at Target. I have a bit of everything on this page but most of all I had a nice refreshing cup of tea while I scrapped it. :)

Cute as a button...post no.2 from old blog

I have been lax in updating my blog and had to take a hiatus from scrapbooking.(shocking I know)  I had a bit of belly button issue. But nothing an operation couldn't fix. I had wonderful support from my family and friends. Soooo thankful for them!  I am well on the road to recovery and getting back on my scrappy bandwagon.  I will be updating my blog (in the near future) with some layouts from crops past. :)  Stay tuned.....:)
