Beeeaaauutifuuuuullllll!!!

As much as I love scrapbooking every little thing my kids do. I wanted to scrap about someone else. I saw the picture of my bestie's girl (my adopted niece) and had to scrap it.

I had the scraps of the hexagon print lying around for months. I had a layout in mind but it never came into being. As I was cleaning my scraps the hexagon made me think of honeycomb. Suddenly, it all clicked in my mind. I needed yellow paper and found Fancy Pants Parkbench a perfect fit.  I hardly ever use my Cricut but found the perfect bee on the Give a Hoot cartridge.  I embossed the bee and cut a few more accents with my Cricut.  Then raided my cardstock from We R Memory Keepers, added a few more scraps, Thickers, journaling and ta da the page is done. :)

So glad to add my special girl to my scrapbook.

Catch up time! Or should I say tea time!!

I have been slacking on my blog for months.I kept thinking about it but life got in the way. Now that my kids are in school,I can quit hanging my head in shame and share what I have been up too.  :)

I have loved drinking tea since I was young. My parents always told me it was good for you. My love for tea was encouraged when I lived in South Africa. They had tea time everyday.  :) It was only fitting that my husband Michael grew up in Sri Lanka. Home to most of the worlds tea plantations.  In 2013 Michael found a new love for Teavana tea that carries some of the tea he was used to.
On a cold day in March, Michael took us to Teavana.  They were giving out free cups of tea and the kids and I each had one. Michael caught us on candid camera enjoying our tea. I couldn't resist putting it on a page.

I dug into my stash for the background and found some old My Minds Eye. I love to use things that normally get recycled so I used the bag from the Teavana store. I just cut the handles off. The darling teacup paper and embellishments are from the Soho Garden line from American Crafts.   My letters are from October Afternoon and AC Thickers.  The ribbon is from the dollar bin at Target. I have a bit of everything on this page but most of all I had a nice refreshing cup of tea while I scrapped it. :)

Cute as a button...post no.2 from old blog

I have been lax in updating my blog and had to take a hiatus from scrapbooking.(shocking I know)  I had a bit of belly button issue. But nothing an operation couldn't fix. I had wonderful support from my family and friends. Soooo thankful for them!  I am well on the road to recovery and getting back on my scrappy bandwagon.  I will be updating my blog (in the near future) with some layouts from crops past. :)  Stay tuned.....:)

The beginning of something great.... post from old blog

I went to a  scrapbooking crop my friend Jana invited me to. She had talked about how cool it would be and how much I would fit in. I arrived feeling nervous because the only person I knew was Jana.  I couldn't believe it when I walked into a huge room full of a hundred ladies. They all had as much stuff as I did. I was in heaven.
I sat next to a lady who was cutting hundreds of pop cans and running them through her Sizzix. I thought this lady was CRAZY!!  Another, had the ability to shout "HHHOOOOOOTTTTEERS" at the top of her lungs for a game. I thought wow she's even crazier.  The lady to my left had lost her voice (poor thing) but she was cutting amazing things on her Cricut.  I could see each one of these ladies had alot of character. But I was still unsure.
Not long after the first crop I was invited to more and more crops.  I was asked to join their Facebook page. But the more I saw these ladies and listened to their stories. The more I realized this isn't just about scrapbooking. This is an outlet from the daily hussle and bussle and a heartfelt place to share happy times,  dark times and just whatever times.
Over the past year I have heard stories of divorce, cancer, miscarriages, unemployment, and even loss of loved ones really heartbreaking stuff. But at the end of the day I have seen sincere genuine people who have become not just best friends but like family. They took me in no questions asked and loved me just the way I am .    I am proud to say I am a Scrappin Ninja!!!!!
With my Ninja family  I have developed a reputation for searching through things people would throw away and create with it. Yes. I will admit I even searched through the trash. (Shocking I know)  Most people would think ewwww gross! But they didn't. They laughed. I am sooo greatful that now they save the scraps for me  so I don't search through the trash.lol
It didn't take long for me to become "SCRAPPY NINJA".   Thus I will for ever be. :)
